Verify the ZIP before running it

In PowerShell, run Get-FileHash .\Grimhold.zip -Algorithm SHA256 and confirm that the result exactly matches the official hash above.

Install

Three steps.

Download the ZIP
Save the Grimhold ZIP somewhere easy to find. If a SHA-256 hash is shown above, you can verify the download before running anything.

Extract the entire Grimhold folder
Do not run the launcher from inside the ZIP. Extract the full folder first so the launcher has a normal place to keep the game files.

Run the launcher
Open the extracted Grimhold folder and run the launcher. It checks the published client and asset files, retrieves what is needed, and then starts the game.

Windows warning

Why Windows may warn you.

The Grimhold launcher is not yet code-signed. Windows SmartScreen may therefore show an “unrecognized app” warning even when the file came directly from the official Grimhold website.

Before continuing, confirm that you downloaded the ZIP from this site and, when available, verify its SHA-256 hash above. The normal Windows flow for an unsigned build is More info followed by Run anyway.

You should not disable SmartScreen or Windows Security to run Grimhold. Code signing is planned specifically to make this first-run experience less alarming.

Optional shortcut

Put Grimhold on your desktop.

After extracting the Grimhold folder, right-click the launcher, choose Show more options if necessary, then use Send to → Desktop (create shortcut). Keep the actual Grimhold folder where it is; the desktop item should only be a shortcut.
